New Statutory Transparency Requirements Expected under the Proposed Italian Sunshine Act

Marco de Morpurgo

Following the legislative initiatives of several other EU member states, Italy is getting ready to adopt its own version of the 'Sunshine' Act. If adopted, life sciences companies will be required to disclose specific information concerning their financial relationships with healthcare professionals and a broad range of other healthcare actors. The disclosed information will be publicly accessible from the regulator's website. While still at the proposal stage, the Italian Sunshine Act enjoys widespread political support and is likely to be adopted in the near future. Life sciences companies should therefore take their sunscreen out and get prepared to address the statutory disclosure requirements brought by the new legislation.
