Effective and Dissuasive: Study of Criminal and Administrative Sanctions related to Environmental Protection in Spain from 2013 to 2018 journal article María José Belmonte Sánchez Zeitschrift für Stoffrecht, Volume 18 (2021), Issue 3, Page 148 - 151 This paper revisits the hypothesis that if longer and more severe sanctions do not have a high level of dissuasiveness, the imposition of administrative sanctions will have a greater dissuasive effect on the conduct of previously sanctioned individuals and companies for (potential) environmental damage. The study to test this hypothesis has been done from a criminological perspective and using a new adaptation of an existing model of analysis of regulatory enforcement for sanctions imposed in Spain from 2013 to 2018.
